This iconic musical wraps up the summer mainstage season. Come see Jonathan Larson’s Pulitzer Prize winning rock musical retelling of the “La Bohème” story…relocated to AIDS-era East Village, New York. A penniless songwriter’s love for a young woman grows even as illness begins to consume her. The poet Rodolfo is now punk rocker Roger. Tubercular Mimi is now an AIDS-infected dancer at an S&M nightclub. Painter Marcello is now aspiring filmmaker Mark Cohen, and so forth. The ending is transformed from the opera, but the theme of love striving to endure beyond all obstacles remains. Songs include “Seasons of Love,” “Without You,” “Out Tonight,” “One Song Glory,” “I’ll Cover You” and “Santa Fe.”

Nate Promkul (Steve/Ensemble) is delighted to be making his debut at Theatre Aspen! He is a South Florida based actor, singer, and musician. A few recent credits include: Zoetic Stage: Gabe – Next to Normal, Anthony Hope – Sweeney Todd. Slow Burn Theater Company: Musidorus – Head Over Heels, Agwe – Once On This Island, and Harry – Kinky Boots. He was most recently a lead vocalist on the high seas with Celebrity Cruises. Caleb Quezon (any/all) graduated from the University of Michigan’s Musical Theatre department this past April, and is beyond excited for the opportunity to play one of his biggest dream roles, Miss Angel Dumott Schunard. Caleb is originally from Tampa, FL, which also happens to be her drag name! Caleb would like to thank Ricky Rollins, their amazing team at DGRW, and the whole Quezon family. Shaunice Maudlyn Alexander (Ensemble / “Seasons of Love” Soloist) is thrilled to be back at Theatre Aspen. She is a native New Yorker and 2014 graduate of The New School’s theatre program. Since then she has had the opportunity to perform regionally, teach within her local communities and focus on shifting the landscape of the Arts industry through nonprofit work. Credits include Bandstand (Jean Ann Ryan | First National Tour), Ragtime (Sarah’s Friend), Our Town (Mrs. Soames), Little Shop of Horrors (Crystal), The Color Purple (Sofia) and most recently she was the Standby / Dance Captain in Ain’t Misbehavin’ at The Rev Theatre Co.
