In this partly scripted, partly devised production, a fledgling theatre company teeters on the brink of collapse after a disastrous first show. When the local librarian requests a new performance for Earth Day, the artists must decide whether to quit – or begin again with a story that truly matters.
To Tell a Story About the Earth is part guided introduction to devising methods, part environmental investigation, and part creative fill-in-the-blank. This new work invites ensembles everywhere to craft and share an original performance inspired by the natural world close to home. In rehearsal, actors collaborate to generate dialogue and stage meaningful theatrical moments while experimenting with advanced ensemble techniques such as Viewpoints and Theatre of the Oppressed.
